before opening his own firm firm in Clarksburg.

Michael J. Romano graduated from WVU with a B.S. in Business Administration Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. He previously worked for KPMG Peat Marwick, which was a “Big Six” accounting firm, before moving on to pursue his legal aspirations. He brings his accounting skills to the table as an asset for all of your business law needs.

Securities Violations and Savings & Loan Enforcement Experience

Michael J. Romano is a former Enforcement Division Officer for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He assisted with both civil and criminal prosecutions of federal securities violations committed among companies that were traded on public securities exchanges.

While employed with the SEC, he served on the Chairman’s Thrift and Savings and Loan Fraud Task Force, where he gained experience with fraud committed by savings and loan financial institutions in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Employed for three years in the SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance, Mr. Romano's duties included reviewing IPOs and other security filings by public companies. Mr. Romano received the Outstanding Performance Award from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
